Revitalizing RMUSITT - Officer Candidates
The candidates are:
For Chair
Casey Kearns, Associate Professor of Scenic Design, has served as the resident scenic designer for the University of Wyoming for the past seven years. Prior to his move to Wyoming, he served as an Asst. Professor and Scenographer at the University of Northern Colorado for three years and the Ohio State University- Lima for one year. Casey has been actively involved with USITT for the past ten years, contributing as a Conference Committee member for six years, SCD Vice-Commissioner of Design for two years, and currently serving his second year as the SCD Vice-Commissioner of Programming. Casey has been a strong supporter of RMUSITT for the past nine years as well as developing and sponsoring theWyoming Student Chapter of USITT for the past three years. In addition, he is the Artistic Director for the Snowy Range Summer Theatre 2012 and works as a freelance scenic designer.
For Secretary
Zachary Keller - A Colorado native, Zachary recently moved back to the region to serve as the Design & Technology Generalist at the University of Northern Colorado. Before joining the faculty of the UNC's School of Theatre, Zachary served as an Instructor in Penn State University’s School of Theatre where he also received his Master of Fine Arts in Scenic Design. His primary design disciplines are scenic and sound design, but he has designed video for many productions and has also served as a Scenic Charge Artist or Prop Master for dozens of productions. Zachary is an avid freelance Graphic Designer and photographer. He has been an active Member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology since 2002; attending every national conference for the last decade.
For Treasurer
Jimmie Robinson has been a member of RMUSITT since 1982 and has served as Treasurer since 1984. He has been a member of USITT for over forty years, serving on the Board of Directors for two terms and once on the National Conference Planning Committee. He has worked during the past thirty years as Technical Director or Lighting Designer at the University of Denver, Arapahoe Community College, Denver Civic Theatre, Colorado State University and Bas Bleu Theatre Company. He retired recently from Colorado State University as Production Manager of the Music, Theatre and Dance Department.
For Vice Chair of Publications
Drew Kowalkowski is originally from Eastern Washington, where he founded Davenport Theatrical and served as Executive Director for its first three seasons. He is currently working as PR/Marketing Assistant for Central City Opera and Production Manager/Marketing Director for Abster Productions on the regional premier of August: Osage County, which runs this September in Boulder. He is a senior at Metro State, studying theatre and arts administration and finishing up his term as Fundraising Coordinator for the Metro State Technical Theatre Club, a USITT Student Chapter
Voting information will be sent to you shortly (provided we have you as registered in Colorado or Wyoming) and will also be posted on our website. Thanks to the diligent research and efforts of our Communications Advisor and Webmaster, Erin Joy Swank, we will be trying online voting for the first time so watch your inboxes for all the details. We will also be holding our annual meeting on June 4th (time and place TBD) where you can cast your vote in person.

Here are the Duties for Section Chair, Vice Chair for Publications, Secretary and Treasurer, per Article IV. OFFICERS:
1. Chair. The Chair shall preside at all meetings, shall coordinate the activities of the Section, and shall have the authority to select or appoint the Publications Editor after consultation with the Vice Chair for Publications.
5. Vice Chair for Publications. In the absence or incapacity of the Chair and the Vice Chair for Programming and the Vice Chair for Communications, the Vice Chair for Publications shall perform such duties as are necessary to fill the interim. This person shall perform such duties as are assigned and shall be responsible for overseeing the publication of the Section newsletter, regional conference registration packets and any other promotional publications as deemed necessary by the Executive Committee. The Vice Chair for Publications shall consult with the Chair on the selection of the Publications Editor
6. Secretary. In the absence or incapacity of the Chair and the Vice Chairs, the Secretary shall perform such duties as are necessary to fill the interim. This person shall perform such duties as are assigned and shall be responsible for for notifying the membership and Executive Committee of regular and special meetings, elections, etc. It shall be the duty of the Secretary to keep up-to-date minutes of all meetings and to distribute same as necessary.
7. Treasurer. In the absence or incapacity of the Chair and the Vice Chairs and Secretary, the Treasurer shall perform such duties as are necessary to fill the interim. This person shall perform such duties as are assigned and shall have complete care of and custody of the funds of the Section and shall deposit in the name of the Section in such bank and/or trust company as is designated by the Executive Committee of the Section. The Treasurer shall collect and receive all dues, charges and other moneys payable to the Section, and shall act as agent for the USITT Corporation in the collection and receipt of all dues, charges and other moneys payable to the USITT. The Treasurer shall maintain the database of current and former members and shall provide the roster of current members to the Executive Committee. The Treasurer shall be responsible for any expenditures of the Section, and will keep proper books and records showing receipts and expenditures on behalf of the Corporation. The Treasurer under instruction of the Executive Committee will create a budget program, and will work to keep the Section within the limits of that budget.

We are the Rocky Mountain Section of the United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT) - an organization of Design, Production, and Technology professionals in the performing arts and entertainment industry located in Colorado and Wyoming.
We had a great time seeing everyone in Charlotte. At the regional meeting we made plans for a First Aid/CPR Training as well as an online chat about Theatrical Safety for April 2nd. Take a look in the events calendar for more information.
